Glamorous camping is all about enjoying the great outdoors, bedding down under canvas, without having to pack a thing or sacrifice your creature comforts.
The Arabian Tent Company are proud to have been among the glamping pioneers back in 2005 when the scene first flourished. Katherine Hudson - alongside Josie De Bank – designed a series of ‘Boudoir Interiors’ for Bestival’s then glamping zone. These luxe boutique structures boasted plush velvet and mirrored fabrics. Banquettes and sofas, beautifully lit and uber deluxe. They were fairy lit, cosy yet palatial and roomy enough to stand in. Of course, they proved to be the ultimate after-hours hangout - and thus the glamping explosion took off.
Good news is you can do it yourself at your party or in your own garden. Here is exactly how to put the ‘glam’ in glamping. You’ll need a boutique structure to begin with. The classic heavy canvas bell tent is perfect, but any large tent will do. You can even ‘glamp’ a basic millets dome should it come to that…

Place a low table with a lantern and flowers or plants in the middle. A centrepiece for you and your glamping team to gather round and perch drinks on elevates the experience from simple camping. Optional beanbags or huge cushions round the edges for extra cosy lounging points.
The bed. This depends on the size of your party, a 5m bell tent will sleep up to 6 but ideally less if you want doubles. A futon mattress is perfect for glamping. Comfy, practical and still feels like a proper bed. Drape in velvet and cover in scatter cushions for extra glam points.
Lighting is key for the perfect glamping atmosphere. Site some large outdoor candles or flares around the tent, and thread battery-powered fairy lights round the poles for that twinkling magic. You’ll also be able to locate your bed when you do finally call it a night.
Other Décor. Bunting is a classic easy win. Prayer flags, silk scarves, ribbons - be inventive. A colourful stream of ribbons flowing at the entrance will welcome your guests.
Scent. Incense, Palo santo, sage or scented candles will add a beautiful element to your glamping experience.
Just add your best friends, your favourite ice-cold drinks and a portable sound system and you have a ready-made deluxe party…
